Methodology
How we price wholesale food for NYC restaurants
Every price on Foodomarket is a real, negotiated wholesale rate from a supplier serving the New York City metro — not a national average or an estimate. Here's exactly how it works.
Where the prices come from
We work with a network of vetted suppliers across the NYC area covering produce, meat and poultry, seafood, dairy and dry goods. Because we pool demand from many independent restaurants, the rate you see is the group-negotiated price — typically below what a single kitchen could secure on its own.
Per pound and per case
Fresh produce and meat are usually quoted per pound; packaged and dry goods trade per case. Where we have both, we show both — and on each product page you'll see the current price plus how it has moved over the last few weeks, so you can tell whether something is cheap or pricey right now relative to its recent range.
Freshness and dates
Wholesale prices move. We refresh them regularly and stamp each product page and the prices-today hub with the date of the latest price, so you never act on a stale number.
The Hunts Point reference
Hunts Point in the Bronx is the wholesale terminal market for the region; USDA publishes a NY Terminal Market report (NX_FV020) as a PDF. Our prices reflect what NYC-area restaurants actually pay through our suppliers — a readable, sortable alternative to that report.
Frequently asked questions
Where do Foodomarket's NYC wholesale prices come from?

How often are prices updated?
Prices are refreshed regularly as suppliers update their rates. Each product page and our prices-today hub show the date of the latest price so you always know how current it is.
Why are some prices shown per pound and others per case?
