Methodology
The index is an equal-weighted basket of 25 high-volume products from our the UK catalog, each with a sufficient price history. Every product is rebased to 100 at its first monthly reading; the basket is averaged each month, and the overall series is rebased to 100 at Jun 2025. We use the lowest weekly wholesale reading per month to avoid outliers.
This is a directional restaurant food cost tracker built from Foodomarket supplier data — not an official statistical index. Unlike national ONS/DEFRA series, it reflects UK wholesale prices at the supplier level.
