Methodology
How we price wholesale food for UK restaurants
Every price on Foodomarket is a real, negotiated wholesale rate from a supplier serving the the UK — not a national average or an estimate. Here's exactly how it works.
Where the prices come from
We work with a network of vetted suppliers across the UK covering produce, meat and poultry, seafood, dairy and dry goods. Because we pool demand from many independent restaurants, the rate you see is the group-negotiated price — typically below what a single kitchen could secure on its own.
Per kilo and per case
Fresh produce and meat are usually quoted per kilo; packaged and dry goods trade per case. Where we have both, we show both — and on each product page you'll see the current price plus how it has moved over the last few weeks, so you can tell whether something is cheap or pricey right now relative to its recent range.
Freshness and dates
Wholesale prices move. We refresh them regularly and stamp each product page and the prices-today hub with the date of the latest price, so you never act on a stale number.
The New Covent Garden Market reference
New Covent Garden Market in Nine Elms is London's main wholesale terminal market for fresh produce, alongside markets like Smithfield (meat) and Billingsgate (fish). Our prices reflect what UK restaurants actually pay through our suppliers — a readable, sortable view of the wholesale market rather than a 3am trip to the market floor.
